Shmaltz Brewing Company will be in today from 4-6 pm offering up a taste of their signature Hop Manna IPA. Brewed a few hours east on I-90 in Clifton Springs, NY, it’s a well-balanced North American IPA made with five different malts and six different varieties of hops. It’s definitely not as bitter as some IPAs at 65 IBUs.
Dry hopping with Citra, Cascade, and Centennial hops contributes to a piney aroma, which is followed by a floral, citrus-y flavor complemented by the caramel-y, wheaty flavor of the malts. A bit of carbonation and fruitiness make for a refreshing and not excessively bitter IPA that would be great with a spicy meal or some cheese. Either way, it goes great with a beautiful early spring day!
