Wow. Even though the weather hardly seems wintry, we’re just a few weeks from the close of 2015.
And it sure was a big year for Abundance.
With 2016 approaching, now seems like a good time to reflect on some of the milestones we reached this year:
We announced our move to the South Wedge!
After a lot of planning, the Board of Directors announced that Abundance Cooperative Market will move to the South Wedge neighborhood of Rochester in the Spring of 2016. With a much larger space, we’ll be able to carry more items and offer lower prices on the local, organic, and sustainably-produced food we source.
We’re all really looking forward to joining one of Rochester’s most vibrant neighborhoods. Read the original announcement.
Our co-op grew by 209 new owners!
Through two owner drives and by the general increase in people interested in how a cooperatively-owned grocery store can benefit Rochester, we’re really happy to have welcomed 209 new owners over the course of 2015.

We made shopping with us more affordable through the FLOWER Program and Co+op Basics.
One of our primary goals over the past few years has been to find ways in which to make the healthy food we provide as affordable as possible without compromising the values behind it. In 2015, we introduced two programs that, we believe, are great steps in that direction.
Fresh, Local, and Organic Within Everyone’s Reach (FLOWER) gives shoppers who are currently receiving financial assistance for food from approved government programs an everyday discount of 10% off all regularly priced items they purchase. FLOWER is designed to lower the cost of the natural food and eco-friendly products in our store for people with limited incomes. Read more>>
Co+op Basics offers everyday low prices on many popular grocery and household items. From milk to beef to cereal, you’ll find both new value-priced brands as well as new low prices on some old favorites. Read more>>
Beer made it to our shelves!
For the first time since we opened, shoppers can now buy their brews at the co-op. We currently offer only New York State-brewed beers. The selection we offer will be larger and more diverse at our new store. Meanwhile, come try some tasty local beers while the holiday buzz is around.
